As some of you are aware, I play competitive fighting games from time-to-time.Heck, I've been playing the things more than half my life, who am I kidding.
Due to some "real life" and other mixups, I've kind of layed low on tournaments for the time, but I had a free day last weekend in Sacramento called SuperBrawl ....and I got beat up.
After taking a break from it all, it was actually kind of nice to see everyone and how much better they got (and how bad I was! Ha!)!!!
They're all really hungry and trying to improve in a way that I found refreshing and a nice break from the industry/"here's my business card" version of what's been around thus far.
There were a lot of good matches and I met some new faces while seeing some old ones on top.
Anyways,if you want to check out some of their matches, just hit the jump, but I've embedded one below of me getting bopped by a Ken player named Sicx, who you might recognize from our instagram or Sneakerheads of Sacramento collaborations...(pardon the screaming in advance).
As for the HH stuff, expect some fun stuff to pop up over the next few weeks and hang tight. I know it's getting cold and you guys are a bit on edge, you can also get some of the gear that's currently in the shop by clicking here.

BURGER BATTLE...what can I say..I never know how to talk about this event...there's the professional way to do it and the fanboy way to do it...I couldn't decide which one was better, so I'll shoot you both and let you decide..(thanks PTSD).
We hit the Sacramento Burger Battle last week.
Essentially it's the 15 best and brightest burger maestros coming out for 4 hours mid-Septmeber to throwdown in an all you can eat battle to be crowned victor and the #1 burger in Sacramento.
The setting this year was Cesar Chavez Park and there were 800 people in attendance.Despite the large amount of people, the venue was spacious, parking was great and there were a TON of bugers (of course)!
The dope thing about this year versus the others was the burgers were a little more far out than usual. So you could get a spicy black bean burger on one end of the venue, and walk down a few booths later to get a tuna burger or a peanut butter and jelly jalapeno one at the next.
Judging seemed like it would be both easy and hard. My guess was because of all the crazy burgers, the people's choice would just be whatever was the most solid across all palates. There is a second set of judges that are more burger saavy and choose the overall winner for the burger battle including my buddy Rodney from BurgerJunkies.com,who also put on the event over the last 3 years.
I'm not sure why, but I usually don't get excited for food stuff. I think growing up around professional chefs and retaurants left me jaded when it comes to the event side of things, but this is very different.Everyone that comes LOVES burgers, the proceeds go to Crohn's and Colitis research, and the participants from the chefs to the volunteers are EXTREMELY dedicated.
That energy just makes for one of the best events in Sacramento and if you live within a 100 mile radius of Sacramento, it's a must attend if possible. All you can eat burgers, live music, friends, food, and more food after that...oh...and booze...all you can drink booze too ...(I'm not going to mention "CiderGate"). It's just the most wicked burger event there is.
Rant off, I didn't take many photos this time around, but I wanted to post about this one sooner than later. It seems only natural with one of our logos being a burger that we'd have to go every year, but it's just that good of a happening.
Maybe next year we can all mob together.I like eating, but it doesn't always have to be alone. -h_h-
FANBOY:
Sac Burger Battle...
It's just the best thing ever. I got to eat a million hamburgers and had cider till the death of me.Rodney aka 'Burger Don' aka me from the future puts this thing on to benefit Crohn's research, but also just get the most badass chefs in the area to make ridiculous burgers we can all eat for 4-5 hours straight.
There's tons of vendors serving up a variety of drinks without a limit. There's super gnarly local musicians jamming out on a stage, and during all of this you get to kick it either solo or with a crew and decide who's making the best burger in Sacramento.
The fun thing about this event for me is it's a mini tournament. It's straight up Hunger Games out here, we have the careers that are trying to bring prestige to their respective businesses, we have the upstarts,we have the "Super Chefs" as I call them (think saving the world with food but there's also a little bit of rockstar coming off them as they cook) and they're all going heads to win the battle.
People will tell you every ingredient and where it was sourced at one table while another might just shoot you a slider and smile because they already know the taste is what matters most at the end of the day.
So you get to see these far out burgers coupled with far out personalities and tons of people (although it's in no ways cramped) for as long as you can eat. Three words : I LOVE IT.
Not only does one of my better friends put on the event, but I get to eat? And I get to watch a little side show with all the drama that goes alongside competition? It's like dinner and a movie to the extreme...WITH BOOZE.Best thing ever.
Last year I missed the event and had a cow. Some fans came out and repped, but there's nothing like being there, so this time I had 2 hours between gigs to really just enjoy all things burger and enjoy I did.
The vibe there is super positive and the food is just awesome.I really want to do a mob with all of us next year because you guys really need to come to this thing, it's great.
I'm done rattling off about it.So, I'll shoot the few photos and videos I took below.Sorry if there aren't a ton, but I hope you'll understand if I was a bit distracted.
EDIT: Actually I'm going to link you to my favorite burger at the event and tell you to like them on Facebook so you don't miss out next year. You can check our stuff on our Instagram. ;)

EDIT #2 : Sacramento Press had someone that was somehow able to put down their burger and take a photo, so I've included some (but not all) of those below.
