Man! It's been a little while longer than expected! I've been struggling with some funky real life mixups and trying to bring you guys the best stuff possible while dealing with everything! I decided to do a fast this week just to get my body where it needs to be for some upcoming projects and without time to eat, there is now time to blog! Haha! So what should we talk about? Hmm, I know! Food!
Around this time last year , I had the opportunity to hit one of the most fun events in Sacramento for any foodie: The Sacramento Burger Battle. The event is a burger showdown to the death between top burger trucks and restaurants in Sac to find out who has the best burger. For those of you not in the know, Sacramento is a food town, we have artisan chefs from across the country working at "The Farm To Fork Capitol" to bring out some of their best and brightest staff for one purpose : MAKING AN AWESOME BURGER.So how bout I tell you about it?
The way the event works is you park in Raley baseball field, check in, you are given, a plate, a cup,and a casino coin with markings on it.Your job then is to mosy to the bottom of the field, and GET TO WORK. You have to try each burger, one by one, and there is a slot for your coin to be collected, once you decide what you think the best burger should be.If you can't decide, the only thing you can do is what any person would have to do in that instance : go back and eat another burger (^_^)!
The event is put on by my buddy Rodney , (who I normally call "Burger Don" because he is the KING of EVERYTHING burger, IN THE UNIVERSEEEEEE....seriously),and all of the proceeds from the event go to for Crohn's and Colitis, so it's win-win for everybody involved!
Along the way, there is live music, other food and drink including beers, ciders, desserts,AWESOME freshly made potato chips/fries,and lots of cool burger lovers to mingle with!(Sacramento is pretty small, so you will probably see people there you know stuffing their face and have to say hello for a second or two...haha!It's all good though, because it gives you time to digest all those burgers!)After you decide what your best burger is, the winner is then crowned the King of Burgers for the year.Pretty awesome right? And what even more awesome is there is another one in September this year.So we going together or what? Let me know. -h_h-
When you walk in, it's kind of tense.Something about people with food and you having an empty plate will just make a part of your mind go crazy. That's when the Burger Warrior kicks in and fills your plate up with awesomeness like.....
This is called a Cheese Skirt, it's from a local Burger place called the Squeeze Inn, the description is in the name. It's a burger with melted cheese that is slightly charred to give it a bite and texture close to that of a browned grilled cheese, it's fun to eat and normally it's cut into pieces, but the thing about knowing people in Sacramento is they will give you a whole burger if you smile enough...and that I did.Next time, maybe a half smile only!
This was my original outfit.I sweat so much in the barber chair talking about burgers (no really), that I had to change.I think the Vice Handwritten is one of the cleanest tees we've brought out FYI.Wish I had one still, but that's how it is sometimes (CJ!!!!)
Lahn cut me up last minute before the event.Him and Clyde at Skin Tight were super nice and I appreciate them accomodating me last minute for a cut(I'm not a regular and they were way past closing). So much love to them.
I'm a sucker for neon .So I made these cool guys pose. They wanted to do feet only.Probably because they were eating burgers during the photo. We all were super burger-wasted before the night ended! Keep your eye on the neon though (hint)!
It should be sinking in by now that this is burger city,I kept eating these guys burgers because they would literally put one on my plate and just hang out which I thought was just an awesome bonus to an already great burger.Plus their buns look like Krabby Patties!
Shoestring fries aren't my thing, but Golden Bear makes the BEST ones! That lemonade top right was like melon, mint, and something else, really good.I made a few trips here.
This was my favorite burger. It was a bacon burger from the Eatery in West Sacramento, they used sweet pickles in their garnish which made the burger has a certain lightness and fun to it that a lot of burgers didn't have.Really good, I ate like 4.
This is Rodney aka "Burger Don" aka @burgerjunkies aka Bizzarro Larry. We're both into t-shirts,burgers, and peanut butter like no other. The only thing that seperates us is I **HATE** American Cheese, and it's his favorite...hence the Bizzarro name.He is super down to Earth and the thing about running events or businesses is that a ton of people want to talk to you and network.I get the feeling Rodney is like me and just wants to sit down and have a burger with the rest of us...maybe a beer too. We kept taking invisible burger photos and his burger was lame, so I had to show him how to do it.The thing about the event is there is alcohol as well and I had NO IDEA that cider had alcohol in it, so here I am cidered up telling this man with a burger medallion how to make a burger.Let that be a lesson to you, real friends will let you look crazy and take a picture with you. Thanks Rodney!
I took like 9 photos of this because I didn't believe it was real...that was the cider kicking in!It's blurry, but I still can't believe that's a cake!
Literally took this pic because I thought the chef looked like a badass. He was making awesome burgers and busting tail all night while everything was going in.That's hard.Respect dude.
Took this on the way out.Something told me they were going to win. They had the best sauce that night by far and their burgers kind of remind me of these burgers we used to have in texas with nacho cheese sauce on them.I forget what they were called..anyways ..really good and they have a restaurant here now too! If you ever come to Sac,check it out!
All in all, it was a great event. If you're curious... check out sacburgerbattle.com ..better yet...take my word for it and register now and when you're going to be there. We can meet there and hang out...but no cider this time! haha...stay hungry! I know I will :(... -h_h-

I've never been good with tact or disguising my words...so I had to think about this post for a while before I put it up.I don't know how to say what I would like to without this sentence: My heart is broken.I have been taking a few months to contemplate the direction the brand is going. The dealings I've mentioned in earlier post, they've been tough. The people, the emails, the letdowns, they seem unrelenting at times. In other words, the struggle is real.
My mother has been in a hospital for about a week and some change. She has been worrying about me.The late night sticker runs, road trips alone, sleeping in cars, she doesn't mention them. She never has, but her face has,and her body has. This is her second stroke. If you're not familiar with what a stroke is, it's when a part of your brain dies from lack of oxygen. Some people die from them, some go blind, others are paralyzed, and there is always the risk of another, especially if you don't take care.
I have never been able to touch people close to me.I have lost many a relation while striving to convince the world that they have the possibilty to change. There are hardships that we all endure as humans, and mine is not unique, but the pain is.It is impossibly demoralizing to want things for people and see them hit walls that you can't derail them from hitting.Whether it's kids I talk to about matchups and fundamentals that don't listen or more intimate conversations involving lifestyles, habits, even goals.Sometimes, you just can't help;people have to do it for themselves.
Having said that, I have been hitting a lot of walls while doing my darndest to avoid them.My mother has always taken her eyes away from her own well-being and focused them on me.She never scoffed at time spent studying toy packaging, or the endless nights of banging buttons learning Bison CC's ,reflies, roll cancels (yea,I'm old..so?).She just kind of let me fly around and do what I will with the hope that I would find my own light. Her goals and hunger, for lack of a better word, lie in me pursuing my own goals,we share a dream.
If you've ever seen my temper, you would know it's a radical departure from the character I normally exude. For the most part, I'm a happy go lucky guy and like to make people laugh while eating stuff..possibly helping out where I can.But I have two distinct trigger that destroy me to no end and make the worst person become real for a moment in me.They are : Injustice, and Confusion.
Right now, I am at a point, where I question what fair is.They world is not built on fairness and you would be best to disregard the concept while pursuing your goals. But it can be hard.It is not fair that someone that you care for so much is at a crossroads and you cannot help them. They have to save their own life.It is confusing to see someone in this state and never be able to make them or the people you care about most listen. It gives me rage to feel this way and to visit hospitals, familar walls providing both a shelter and a sort of captivity simultaneoulsy, become a place of uncertainty that you must frequent to function. These things can drive a person mad...if you let them.
That being said, I want you guys to know, I am struggling.I used to not share struggles.I thought they were too much for the fans and a bit distracting from the brand. However, I would like you to know, that for all the talk I give you.I live it as well.We all struggle for what we want. And this will be one of MANY hardships I foresee having to endure in pursuit of my goals. For all the sacrifice it has taken to get this far, there will be more...because I want more, and I will not settle for less.
So, with all of this ramble. There is something brooding from this. And I will need your help.It may be a little, it may be a lot depending on how you look at it.But,there is something I would like to make of this. It's kind of a special project, but I'm sure I will not be able to do it alone.Right now, it's just in my head, but I think if I can pull this off, it will be a big deal.No extra words beyond that yet.
As for the rest of the time, just keep doing what you guys do by reading articles, buying shirts, and stickers, pursuing your goals and spreading the word. But,be ready...like I said, I will need you...all of you.Otherwise,it won't work.Hope the rest of you are well. Much love and stay hungry until then. -h_h-

It's been a while dudes.Been working on some weirdness and radness for you guys and also taking a second to really address some health issues and random crud involving the brand.Forgive the little hiatus. But, it should pay off for you guys, just hang tight and keep rocking with us.
It's been kind of weird adjusting to the interactions that go alongside having a brand. There is a lot more to shirts than just making really good stuff and it's kind of a bummer when you have to learn and do everything all at once.
If you look at some pieces in the collection, they're kind of a subtle Nod to what we've been going through in the background while really pushing to do great work and keep quality people in the circle of HH.
If you can't tell, it's been a rough one, and the whole point of this release was kind of to just let go and relieve some stress. That Scrub Life tee was just an awesome Nod to going with what you feel and was inspired by listening to a heck of a lot of Tupac whilst soul searching. It turned out pretty darn good and the little details in the piece are something to behold once you get your hands on it.From the beanie to the boxers, there are all sorts of itty bitty Nods nestled in the design that don't overwhelm it, but compliment the piece just right.Random thing about it though, that orange makes me want an orange soda SO BADDDDDDDDD...so I can't look at it very long without buying one.First world problems I guess.
Funky Dealings was a long time concept come to life.It always seemed like a good idea to make a shirt for stinkers. We know them and live with them...and also smell them...haha.It didn't really come together until all these hardships dealing with people or "networking" came about. The lesson in the shirt is that if someone smells like a rat ,they probably are, trust your gut (and your nose) and stay away from that mess!
My favorite pieces to look at currently happen to be the Self Sponsoreds for sure.It was always an awesome piece and it just came and went,so a lot of fans missed out on it.Back in the day (before Funky Dealings),I didn't trust my gut and these two colorways that I thought looked best got ditched for the previous ones.So this is kind of an apology to those colorways (sorry Sylvester and Tweety) and a Nod to feeling confident enough to do what we feel with the brand/design.Speaking of....
I was told I don't do enough sneak previews,..that's kind of true and also not.I am not a fan of them.In streetwear, there is a lot of biting, brands big and small look for stuff to bite, tweak,or counter and call theirs..so it's weird to this day for me to give away free information to random people on the Internet. You have people that will swipe your entire brand concept, try to pack their envelopes like you, doodles, fruitsnacks, stickers, hashtags, the whole 9..I've even seen people start making the same faces as me in pictures!!!...they want to be you. So,I am sorry that stuff isn't always out there to see..but it's just not my thing being the small fry with the good ideas or the kid everyone copies off of for homework and tests...haha.Personal struggle I guess. But I will try to give you guys more tidbits on the Tumblr and Instagram. Also make sure to get on the mailing list.Stuff like hoodies and surprise releases come and go,we don't always reprint or re-release stuff either, so that is a super great tool to have a headstart and get a limited, high quality,well-designed piece of the HH randomness you've come to love so far.
Anyways, this is a little funky update fer ya's ...hope it explains some and helps out.Feel free to bug me on Twitter and Instagram (@hungryhuman), and we'll keep pushin'.Thanks to the fans rocking, repping, spreading, and supporting....we need you and this doesn't work otherwise.Try hard,Never Settle, and Stay Hungry. -h_h-

Hype... it's everywhere, but at the same time, nowhere. It's consider a catalyst for many a movement, and also the downfall of more than a few bad ideas and trends (Can anyone say Furby?). This piece is interesting because it actually started as a sticker ... if you can't tell by now, a large portion, or should I say "ALL" of the last few HH releases were based around resentment and depression, largely spawned from just dealing with some less than savory people and not exercising my better judgement. This sticker was going to be a tie-in to that feeling, but it ended up looking so good on a tee that it ousted another piece from it's throne and became it's own thing.
The base of the tee has two elements intertwined to make a striking image. The funny thing however, it's not that at all. There is always a line one draws when using certain references and with HH being at it's core, a brand spawned from hunger and persistence, the element of the obscure or hard to comprehend is fun to play with....in other words, we do goofy confusing stuff sometimes!
When someone wastes your time or just does something that makes no sense at all.You question it.WHY DID THEY DO THAT??? A lot of the time, people don't know why they do things, they just want to be a part of something.I feel HH is a very special something that people latch onto. The energy you as the fans give to it, the heart,...people see it ,and it's hard to ignore...even crazy big wigs and corporations have little people running them that want to be a part of something.Hype is what makes people do all sorts of crazy stuff and to us,it's the most powerful potent thing on the planet.
If you add money to the equation, hype gets even more intoxicating. The dollar bill is a little nod to most people's motives at the end of the day :hype and money.Humans are pretty simple sometimes. If you examine the bill a bit closer, there's a little nod to Self Sponsored shirt with the face logo, that's just a fun jab to how people at HH are compared to the general populaton...they're not really about hype or money, just real hunger and struggling to get where we need to be: without those outside influences.
I could ramble on about this part forever, but that's no fun.The shirt on the surface is a bit of an awkward homage to crazy people doing wild stuff that doesn't make sense. Whether it's sidebets at tournaments, wasting a bunch of someone's darn time (*cough*),or just making a wild shirt to see what someone's reaction is (*double cough*)...that's what this shirt is about for me.But at the end of day, it's whatever you want it to be.
SIDENOTE: It was super fun to see all sorts of people buy the shirt for different reasons and say to oneself "why did they buy that???"... because the shirt itself is one weird long troll question on a way...WHY? I guess I just wanted to be a part of the hype.
